Definition
The study of mental processes that select, hold, transform, and retrieve information.
You cannot hold everything. So the system selects. What it selects feels like reality. Biases are often adaptations that misfire in evaluative modern environments.
In simple terms
Your mind has a small desk. Whatever is on the desk runs the next hour. Cognitive psychology studies the desk, the filing cabinet, and the shortcuts.
