Psychologically, many stuck decisions are not missing data. They are attempts to avoid a particular error — humiliation, loss, regret. Prospect theory helps explain why losses loom. Anxiety supplies the body. The move is to separate reversible from irreversible choices.

Scientific explanation
Loss aversion and reference points are experimental landmarks. Stress makes flexible control more expensive. Working memory cannot hold every branch.

That faster is always better, or that you have a decision disorder.
What remains uncertain
Values conflicts (two genuine goods) are not solved by a heuristic name.
Practical implications
Label the feared error. If the choice is reversible, pick a small test with a review date.

Finding. Stress signalling can weaken prefrontal control and bias toward more habitual or amygdala-weighted responding in models.
